I took a picture with Andy Strange three years ago during a workshop. I liked his simplicity in explaining some of the principles of sound engineering and his experience. Andy Strage is a respected British recording engineer who built his career within the UK pop scene from the 1990s onward. Widely trusted for his technical skill and musical sensitivity, he worked closely with Robbie Williams and songwriter-producer Guy Chambers, specialising in vocal recording and studio tracking that helped shape the polished sound of successful British pop productions.

During my final studies for the Master’s Degree in Film and TV Composition at the University of West London, I had the chance to conduct an ensemble made up of four violins, one viola, a cello, and a double bass, performing one of my original compositions.

From that live recording, I felt inspired to create an electronic version — a modern reinterpretation where classical strings meet contemporary sound textures.

During my final studies for the Master’s Degree in Film and TV Composition at the University of West London, I had the chance to conduct an ensemble made up of four violins, one viola, a cello, and a double bass, performing one of my original compositions.

From that live recording, I felt inspired to create an electronic version — a modern reinterpretation where classical strings meet contemporary sound textures.

I’m talking about the early Star Trek series, which I find the most captivating despite its age. The original music, composed by Alexander Courage, became iconic and helped shape that unique atmosphere of wonder and discovery.

In this work, I tried to create a parallel world to the images, where sounds — like a vortex or a fluid — move through space and time, enhancing the visuals and their story.

The music moves between intense, dynamic moments and pure atmosphere and intimacy, as if madness and lucidity were dancing together on the edge of a razor.

This is one of my most personal works — a journey into the human soul: dark, fragile, and intensely alive.

My most recent research focused on how relaxing music can be composed using insights drawn from scientific literature. The study provides valuable guidance for creating music aimed not only at general well-being but also for clinical applications—particularly as a non-pharmacological intervention for individuals living with dementia.

Specifically, the research highlights three key factors that influence how individuals perceive and respond to relaxing music:

Personality – Individual differences in personality traits significantly shape how music is experienced and how effective it is in promoting relaxation.

Momentary State – A listener's current emotional and psychological state can modulate their response to music, making context a crucial consideration.

Innate Biological Response – Certain acoustic features appear to elicit universal physiological reactions, such as decreased heart rate or reduced cortisol levels.

This multidimensional approach offers a robust theoretical framework for designing personalised relaxing music.
